The Amethyst gave me a jolt. There was one, I remember I liked it, but I can't remember anything else about it or where it was! How annoying. Here are some I do remember - Abbey Tea Rooms in Harris Arcade; Friars Tea Bar in Friar Street (hippies used to meet up on Saturdays in the back room 1970/72); Platters in Cross Street and Katherine Wheel in Duke Street where the mods went; Gingham Kitchen, firstly in West Street and later in the Market Place/Broad St arcade; People's Cafe in Caversham Road; Quality Cafe in Caversham Road
